Tashkent hosted the Uzbek-Japanese IT forum, which brought together leading experts, investors and representatives of the technology sector of both countries. The discussion focused on digital transformation, the introduction of innovative technologies, as well as prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of information technology. Experts stressed the importance of joint projects to accelerate the development of the industry and create new business opportunities.
Dynamic development of cooperation
General Director of the IT Park of Uzbekistan Abdulakhad Kuchkarov noted that the dynamics of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in the field of IT confirms the high potential for further development. In 2023, only one Japanese resident company was registered in the IT Park of Uzbekistan, but by the end of 2024, their number has grown to 10, and three of them have already started exporting their IT services. In turn, five companies from Uzbekistan that are residents of IT Park have started exporting their services to Japan. This indicates a significant increase in mutual investment and the development of technological exchange.
New investments and business opportunities
Following the forum, three major Japanese companies announced their intentions to open offices in Uzbekistan. These companies see Uzbekistan as a promising platform for expanding their business and entering new markets. It is expected that this cooperation will lead to significant investments in the IT sector, create new jobs and strengthen Uzbekistan's position in the international arena. Experts are confident that increasing the number of Japanese companies in the country will open up new opportunities for local startups and entrepreneurs, as well as allow Uzbekistan to become an important player in the global information technology market.
