The American fast food restaurant chain Chipotle is actively implementing artificial intelligence technologies not only in production processes, but also in personnel management. The company reported a significant acceleration in hiring employees after integrating the Ava Cado AI platform, developed in collaboration with a specialized HR company.
Ava Cado is a multi-language chatbot that automates key recruitment steps: interacting with candidates, answering questions, collecting information, filling out questionnaires, and scheduling interviews. The chatbot communicates in English, Spanish, French, and German, making hiring accessible to a wide audience of job seekers.
Previously, restaurant managers spent a significant amount of time organizing interviews and processing applications. Now this process is significantly optimized. As a result of using Ava Cado, the application completion rate reached 85%, and the average time to complete the questionnaire was reduced to eight minutes. In addition, the chatbot provides candidates with detailed information about the vacancy, which allows them to attract more motivated and knowledgeable applicants.
The company, which opens about 300 new restaurants annually, needs a well-established recruitment system that can cope with the volume of 9-10 thousand new employees per year. Thanks to Ava Cado, the time between applying and going to work has been reduced to 3.5 days compared to the previous 12.
It is important to emphasize that Ava Cado does not select candidates and does not make final decisions. All key stages of the interview remain within the competence of managers, which allows maintaining high standards of personnel evaluation.
The company is considering further expansion of the Ava Cado functionality. In particular, it is planned to integrate training videos, automatically offer vacancies in other branches, and use AI in corporate training programs.
Despite the general concerns about the use of AI in recruitment, Chipotle emphasizes the security of the platform and keeps key decisions for people. The company's innovative approach illustrates the growing interest in the use of AI in HR and sets guidelines for other market participants.
