On July 28, an official meeting was held in Tashkent between First Deputy Minister of Mining and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan Oybek Nasritdinkhodzhayev and representatives of Chinese enterprises that are members of the Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan. The reason for the talks was the results of an international forum recently held in the capital dedicated to the prospects for the extraction of" green " minerals.
The parties paid special attention to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the context of environmental transformation of the mining industry. Chinese delegates positively assessed the level of organization of the forum and stressed its importance for creating a sustainable investment climate in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the Chinese side proposed a number of large-scale initiatives. One of the key points was the creation of a $ 500 million investment fund designed to support joint projects in the field of" green " extraction and processing of natural resources. In addition, issues of conducting joint scientific research, forming international expert groups and developing common environmental standards that meet the requirements of both countries were discussed.
Special emphasis was placed on the need to train qualified specialists. Among the initiatives discussed are the launch of educational programs, internships and exchanges in the framework of sustainable mining technologies and environmental risk management. They also discussed measures to promote "green" financing tools — mechanisms that help attract capital to projects that minimize environmental damage.
Uzbekistan expressed its readiness to actively participate in the implementation of these initiatives and stressed the strategic importance of cooperation with China in the transformation of the national economy towards sustainable development. The talks confirmed the parties ' mutual interest in strengthening partnership and expanding areas of cooperation in the field of ecology, investment and technological exchange.
