Tashkent hosted a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a delegation of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), headed by Regional Director Ali Khan Muhammad. The delegation also included Alibek Kazangapov, Project Management Specialist at the IDB Regional Center in Almaty, and Husan Khasanov, a representative of the IDB in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation, focusing on the implementation of economically significant and socially oriented projects. The focus was on initiatives aimed at developing transport and road infrastructure, supporting sustainable rural growth, and strengthening the economic sustainability of small and medium-sized businesses.
Special attention was paid to the current progress in the framework of three key projects implemented with the support of the IDB: "Sustainable rural development", "Integrated rural development" and " Strengthening the economic sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SERVE)". These initiatives play an important role in shaping a more balanced economic model and improving the quality of life in rural areas.
Representatives of both sides noted a high degree of mutual understanding and expressed their readiness to systematically deepen the partnership. During the conversation, the importance of coordination at all stages of the project cycle — from planning to implementation and evaluation of results-was emphasized. The meeting participants also noted the need to strengthen the exchange of expert opinions and experience to improve the effectiveness of implemented programs.
At the end of the talks, the parties agreed to continue regular interaction and develop new areas of cooperation, with an emphasis on sustainability, economic inclusion and strategic orientation of projects. Uzbekistan considers cooperation with the IDB as one of the key directions of its economic policy, contributing to the achievement of the goals of sustainable development and modernization of national infrastructure.
