New details about one of the key models of the upcoming iPhone 17 line became known thanks to a leak related to protective glasses for future devices. Judging by the published image of the components, the iPhone 17 Air model will receive a unique location of the front camera — unlike other versions, it will be shifted to the left from the Dynamic Island area.
The current generation of iPhones uses symmetrical placement of Face ID elements and the front camera to the right of the Dynamic Island cutout. The change in the Air model may be caused by architectural constraints. According to preliminary data, the iPhone 17 Air will be the thinnest Apple smartphone - the thickness of the device at the minimum point will be only 5.5 mm, which may require a revision of the internal layout of modules, including camera sensors and a facial recognition system.
A source familiar with the configuration of the line also indicates that all four models — iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max — will be equipped with a new front camera with a resolution of 24 megapixels. This will be a significant upgrade over the 12-megapixel modules used in the iPhone 16 and its predecessors.
The announcement of the iPhone 17 is expected in September. In addition to changes in the design and camera, analysts predict other technological improvements, including improved displays and more powerful chips. Attention to the Air model is particularly high — in Apple's strategy, it can occupy a niche between the basic and professional versions, offering a combination of lightness, subtlety and high performance.
