Wildberries is preparing to create its own virtual mobile operator (MVNO). Currently, the terms of cooperation with federal telecom operators are being discussed. Among the potential partners, the company T2, which owns the Tele2 brand, is considered.
The MVNO market in Russia continues to develop actively, and more and more participants are showing interest in creating their own virtual operators. Launching such a project requires significant investment: the start-up costs are estimated at several billion rubles. At the same time, additional resources will need to be invested in the development and promotion of services so that the product becomes popular and can successfully compete with existing offers.
Experts of the telecommunications industry positively assess the possible emergence of a new player. Market participants surveyed by the publication note that increased competition will have a positive impact on the quality of services and offers for subscribers. According to Kirill Kucherov, Director of the Telecommunications Services Department at J'son & Partners Consulting, if a product is created that is attractive to consumers, the subscriber base of the virtual operator Wildberries can reach a level comparable to T-Mobile's indicators in the next five to six years — about 6 million subscribers.
The Wildberries project can become one of the largest new initiatives in the MVNO segment, provided that the strategy is successfully implemented and a competitive offer is formed for the market.
