In April 2025, the business activity index (PMI) in Uzbekistan amounted to 1,099 points, which is 9.9% higher than in March. Such data was provided by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.
The increase in the index is due to a number of key factors. In particular, there was an increase in the volume of transactions on bank accounts by 17.2%, which indicates an increase in financial activity among enterprises and the population. A significant contribution was also made by the dynamics of the commodity exchange: its turnover increased by 8.7% compared to the previous month.
At the regional level, the most significant growth in IDA was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan — by 33.8%, in Navoi region-by 26.9%, in Samarkand region-by 18.2%, and in Tashkent city — by 15.3%. These indicators indicate positive economic dynamics in a number of key territories of the country.
At the same time, despite the overall increase in the number of business entities, the number of large enterprises decreased by 627 units. This may indicate structural changes in the economy and requires further analysis by specialists.
