President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the launch of a large-scale program aimed at developing and popularizing mass sports among the population. According to the press service of the head of state, the main goal of the initiative is to increase the number of citizens who regularly engage in physical culture and sports from 10 to 15 million people.
The program provides for a number of new sports events designed for different age and social categories. Among them — "League of Mahallas", "School League", "League of Students", "Minister's Cup" and "Cup of Trade Unions". These competitions will become an important part of the system of encouraging sports activity in the country.
Winners and prize-winners will receive valuable awards, including apartments, cars, as well as the opportunity to complete training in leading sports institutions of the republic. It is expected that the implementation of this program will be a significant step in the formation of a healthy lifestyle culture and the development of the sports potential of Uzbekistan.
