Uzbekistan – China: Investment and industrial cooperation

The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan hosted a round table with the participation of Deputy Minister Ilzat Kasimov and representatives of the Chinese business and expert community led by Zhao Ai. The talks focused on expanding investment and industrial cooperation, strengthening infrastructure projects and supporting new initiatives that can accelerate the technological renewal of key sectors of the economy. The emphasis is placed on creating conditions for joint production, including through industrial localization, technology transfer and integration into regional value chains. For Uzbekistan, this is an opportunity to scale export-oriented production and diversify sources of capital, for Chinese partners-access to a growing market and the formation of sustainable production clusters in Central Asia. Project risk mitigation tools were discussed: long-term contracts linked to performance indicators, standardization of contractor selection procedures, reliance on industrial zones and logistics corridors. Infrastructure and energy projects, where economies of scale and predictability of the regulatory environment form the basis for public-private partnerships, aroused particular interest. As a result, the parties confirmed their focus on long-term cooperation and synchronization of roadmaps on investment, industrial cooperation and personnel, which strengthens strategic partnership and increases the stability of bilateral economic ties.
