Uzbekistan – USA: business marathon and guarantees for investors

The President of Uzbekistan launched the International Business Marathon of Compatriots in New York, marking a platform for direct dialogue between young professionals, students and entrepreneurs of Uzbek origin working abroad. The agenda focuses on practical projects in trade, investment, science and education, as well as on the implementation of American technologies in the country's economy — from medicine and transport to logistics. A special emphasis is placed on human resources: more than five hundred Uzbek citizens are already studying in the United States, who are offered tools for returning and implementing competencies in the national market. At the same time, an institutional mechanism for supporting foreign investors was announced: the Ministry of Investment introduced the position of Deputy Secretary of State for U.S. Affairs with a twenty-four-by-seven interaction mode, which reduces transaction costs of entry, accelerates coordination procedures and increases predictability for companies. Among the priorities identified are the development and deep processing of mineral resources, digital technologies and IT, infrastructure projects based on the model of public-private partnership and the agro-industrial complex. Against the backdrop of a four-fold increase in mutual trade over eight years and more than three hundred American companies already present in the country, a package of contracts and promising projects of more than one hundred billion dollars has been formed — from aviation and mining to chemistry, energy, finance and innovation. In the intellectual property block, the delegation of Uzbekistan at a meeting with the leadership of the relevant UK department discussed the use of artificial intelligence in the examination of applications, reducing the time for registering inventions and mutual recognition of expert opinions. The British formats of rights commercialization and anti-counterfeiting with the possibility of adaptation to national practice, including the participation of law enforcement agencies to assess damage to copyright holders, are considered. The consolidation of these initiatives-from diaspora entrepreneurship and targeted investor support to the modernization of the regulatory environment in the field of intellectual property-strengthens the export potential and accelerates the technological renewal of the real sector, creating more transparent rules for business and a stable base for long — term growth for the state.
