Turkmenistan: joint initiative with Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to create distribution centers

A trilateral meeting of representatives of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan was held in Avaza, following which the parties agreed to create a network of joint wholesale distribution centers. This initiative is aimed at developing sustainable trade and logistics chains and strengthening countries ' positions in the regional economy.

In recent years, the trade turnover of Uzbekistan with Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan has more than doubled. At the same time, about 40% of the exchange is made up of manufactured goods, which indicates the growth of industrial cooperation and the formation of long-term industrial ties. This indicates the transition of cooperation from the category of short-term trade to the sphere of systemic interaction.

Within the framework of the agreements reached, the parties will prepare a comprehensive action plan. It will include the creation of a distribution network, simplification of product access to national markets, unification of phytosanitary and quarantine requirements, introduction of digital labeling and development of electronic commerce. Special attention will be paid to strengthening interregional business contacts, which will expand the circle of participants and strengthen the integration effect.

Given the growing role of Central Asia and the South Caucasus in shaping new transportation and distribution routes, the creation of a network of distribution centers is becoming a strategic step. This initiative can not only optimize supply chains, but also ensure the sustainability of trade links in the face of global instability, opening up a more predictable and efficient market for new business participants in the region.
