Russia: Bonum to resume deliveries of semi-trailers to Uzbekistan

Rostov machine-building plant Bonum intends to return to the Uzbek market with the supply of semi-trailer equipment. Deputy Head of the Rostov Region Igor Sorokin announced plans to resume exports, adding that in 2025 the share of foreign supplies of the enterprise to "friendly countries" has already increased to 8.5 percent against 0.5 percent a year earlier. This year, the manufacturer expanded shipments to Kazakhstan and Belarus, which indicates the restoration of the export strategy and the strengthening of sales channels in Central Asia.

For the Uzbek market, the return of Bonum looks economically significant for several reasons. First, against the background of steady growth in cargo transportation and fleet renewal, the demand for semi — trailers — from dump trucks and curtain trucks to specialized tanks-remains high, especially in the construction, agricultural and petrochemical logistics sectors. Secondly, the expansion of the offer in the semi-trailer segment increases competition at the expense of a brand with a well-established engineering base, which affects price discipline and service requirements. Third, the inclusion of Uzbekistan in the list of priority export destinations encourages manufacturers to create local service clusters — component warehouses, partner service stations and training programs for operators and mechanics, which directly affects the downtime of equipment and the completeness of the life cycle.

The Rostov-on-Don plant introduced new modifications to semi-trailers in 2025 and accelerated production processes by upgrading equipment and automating critical operations. For the end customer, this means more predictable delivery times, uniform batch quality and the ability to configure equipment for industry tasks: selection of suspensions and axial units, reinforced frames for heavy road conditions, load safety systems, as well as compatibility with telematics for flight control and FSM.

From the point of view of industry regulation, compliance with safety, environmental and labeling requirements remains important, as well as the supplier's readiness for documentary support through electronic circuits of customs and tax administration. Uzbekistan is rapidly moving to digital data exchange formats, which raises the bar for supply discipline and transparency of service support. In favor of expanding Bonum's presence, the established demand corridor also works: a significant part of imports of automotive components and trucks to the republic is accounted for by manufacturers who are ready to provide the after-sales cycle and staff training.

The expected resumption of deliveries to Uzbekistan amid growing sales in neighboring Central Asian countries confirms the thesis of consolidation of the regional market for semi-trailer equipment. For corporate carriers, this expands the choice in segments with high margin flights, and for leasing companies, it creates an additional pool of standardized assets with a projected residual value. As a result, increased competition along with product line upgrades can accelerate the renewal of the cargo fleet, reduce total cost of ownership, and improve transportation safety.
