Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov met with the World Bank's Global Director for Poverty, Luiz Felipe Lopez — Calva in Namangan as part of the III International Forum "From Poverty to Prosperity: Reducing Poverty in Uzbekistan".
The talks were attended by representatives of the World Bank leadership, including Ambar Narayan, Head of the Global Department for Poverty and Equality in Europe and Central Asia, and Behzod Khamrayev, Chairman of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
The key topics of discussion were expanding cooperation in the field of poverty reduction, modernizing the national social protection system and introducing international best practices into the practice of state programs. Special attention was paid to the role of statistics and analytics in shaping effective social strategies, as well as improving the targeting and effectiveness of public support measures.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to deepen the partnership, focusing on new initiatives aimed at sustainable socio-economic development of Uzbekistan. The agreements reached suggest further strengthening cooperation with international financial institutions, which will allow the country to accelerate the implementation of structural reforms and consolidate progress in reducing poverty.
