Qatar: participation of the Uzbek delegation in the Arab-Islamic summit

On September 14, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov took part in the preparatory meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers on the eve of the joint extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States, held in Doha. Regional and global challenges, increasing threats to international security, as well as the need for dialogue and diplomacy as a basis for conflict resolution were the main topics on the agenda.

The Uzbek Foreign Minister highly appreciated Qatar's role in maintaining stability in the Middle East, stressing that the country's diplomatic efforts contribute to strengthening regional peace and prosperity. Saidov confirmed the constant position of Tashkent on the need to resolve all disputes exclusively by peaceful means.

On September 15, an address by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was read out at the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit in Doha. In the message, the Head of state expressed solidarity with the people of Qatar and Muslim countries, condemning military aggression that threatens regional security. Mirziyoyev stressed that the international community must urgently take steps to end the violence and prevent further escalation.

Uzbekistan reaffirmed several principled positions: all conflicts must be resolved peacefully and through diplomacy; the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent State must be respected in accordance with UN resolutions; the country is ready to provide humanitarian assistance to the victims, which is confirmed by the support already provided to Palestinian citizens accepted in the republic.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Uzbek Foreign Minister held a number of bilateral meetings. During the talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin, they discussed the development of regional cooperation, strengthening economic and cultural ties, as well as joint efforts to ensure stability in Central Asia. In a conversation with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, the sides noted the positive dynamics in bilateral relations, and expressed readiness to expand cooperation and implement upcoming high-level events that will contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership.
