Sweden: IKEA introduces water-saving furniture collection

Swedish brand IKEA has unveiled its new Bergvattnet collection, created as part of World Water Week 2025. The product line combines household solutions designed to reduce water consumption and reuse in everyday life, reflecting the global trend towards more sustainable resource consumption.

According to research, most of the water in households is consumed during showering. This factor has become the starting point for developing products that allow users to control and optimize their consumption. Among the key innovations is a digital meter that shows in real time the number of liters used, the temperature and duration of the shower. The device is compatible with most faucets and is easy to install.

Another innovative solution is an automatic switch that redirects cold water to a separate tank until it is heated. When the temperature reaches 32 °C, the system returns the flow to the shower head. The collected water can be used repeatedly — for watering plants, cleaning or other household needs.

The collection also includes a single-mode hand shower, a low-flow mixer and a special "booster" that allows you to increase the pressure for a short time. The mixer is configured so that when the lever is positioned strictly up, only cold water is supplied, which eliminates unnecessary hot water costs.

In addition to functional solutions, Bergvattnet contains textile elements-towels, mats and shower curtains made in blue tones with smooth shapes that symbolize water. Designed by Finnish designer Hanna-Kaarina Heikkilja.

IKEA notes that the collection will be available to customers around the world in August 2025, both in offline stores and in an online format. The company emphasizes that such developments reflect the growing need of society for eco-friendly and affordable solutions that can change the habits of millions of people and reduce the burden on natural resources.
