Apple is expanding the capabilities of its smartphones: the iPhone 16 line, along with the release of the iOS 26 update, will receive support for wireless charging of the new Qi2 standard with a power of 25 watts. This will allow you to speed up the charging process without the need to use branded MagSafe devices. The only exception will be the iPhone 16e model, for which the option is not provided.
Prior to the update, iPhone users could charge devices using the Qi standard at speeds of up to 15 watts, and the maximum power of 25 Watts was available only through MagSafe. With the transition to Qi2, iPhone 16 smartphones will be able to charge faster and use certified third-party accessories.
In parallel with the Apple update, Belkin introduced a line of Qi2 standard charging stations. Among the new products is a 2 — in-1 stand for iPhone and AirPods that costs about $ 60, as well as two 3-in-1 options for simultaneously charging the iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch, priced at $ 100 and $ 130. All models support 25W charging and are able to restore the iPhone 16 battery level from 0% to 50% in about 30 minutes, which corresponds to the speed of proprietary MagSafe technology.
Qi2 support is already available to users of the iOS 26 beta version. The official release of the update is expected in September, and with it, the iPhone 16 will be the first generation of Apple devices with full integration of the new standard. The introduction of Qi2 strengthens Apple's position in the wireless technology market and creates new opportunities for accessory manufacturers, contributing to the formation of a unified fast charging ecosystem.
