The Li i8 electric car, introduced by Li Auto, demonstrated rapid market success in a matter of days from the start of sales. According to official data, the number of pre-orders exceeded 30 thousand in just a few days after the start of sales on July 29, 2025. This achievement is particularly significant, given that the project was developed for almost a decade.
The Li i8 is the brand's first all-electric crossover, marking a key milestone in Li Auto's strategy to transition to carbon-free transport. Against the background of growing competition, the company decided to unify the model range and focus on the Li i8 Max version. This package is priced at about $ 47,300 and includes a premium audio system, as well as an optional screen for rear passengers.
The electric crossover is equipped with two electric motors that develop a total power of 400 kW (536 hp), and batteries with a capacity of 90.1 or 97.8 kWh. The claimed power reserve reaches 720 kilometers according to the CLTC standard. One of the main technological features was the support for 5C charging: in just 10 minutes, the car is able to replenish the power reserve of up to 500 km.
The Li i8 has impressive dimensions: 5085 mm in length, 1960 mm in width and 1740 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3050 mm. The spacious interior is designed for six people and includes a two-chamber air suspension, lidar, Vision-Language-Action driver assistance system, as well as many intelligent options that combine the functions of a minivan, sedan and SUV.
The first test drives started on July 30, and shipments to customers are scheduled for August 20. To ensure a stable charging infrastructure, the company is actively developing a network of 3,000 charging stations with 16,000 chargers installed across the country. This should eliminate potential customers ' concerns about long-distance travel and the availability of charging infrastructure.
The development of the Li i8 began in 2015 with an analysis of global trends in the field of electric transport. The project was officially launched in 2021 and was the result of a decade of strategic preparation and in-depth market research. The Li i8 model strengthens the company's position in the electric vehicle segment and sets a high bar for competitors both in terms of technological characteristics and the scale of market response.
