Belarus: Uzbekistan strengthens economic ties and supports women's entrepreneurship

Uzbekistan continues to strengthen foreign economic relations with the Republic of Belarus, focusing on practical cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and social spheres. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus Rakhmatulla Nazarov said during an official meeting with representatives of the Council of the Republic that cooperation between the two countries is at the stage of active expansion, and the economic agenda occupies a key place in the bilateral agenda.

According to the head of the Uzbek diplomatic mission, a noticeable increase in trade turnover has been recorded over the past few years. If in 2022 bilateral trade exceeded half a billion dollars for the first time, then in 2023 the volume increased by another 30 percent. In the first half of 2025, an additional 17 percent growth was recorded. At the same time, deliveries are made both from Uzbekistan and from Belarus, which indicates a balanced nature of cooperation.

The third Belarusian-Uzbek Women's Business Forum, which will be held in Vitebsk on August 28-29, will be the central event of the upcoming agenda. According to the Ambassador, the forum has already established itself as an effective platform for business dialogue and conclusion of commercial agreements. This year, the organizers aim to achieve even better results. The program of the event includes thematic sections covering key areas of interaction-from medicine and education to youth policy and tourism. Special emphasis will be placed on the trade and economic bloc.

The Uzbek delegation consists mainly of representatives of the business community and the economic sector, which underlines the priority given to practical cooperation. As Rakhmatulla Nazarov noted, the forum should end with the signing of major bilateral contracts, as well as agreements that contribute to the further development of entrepreneurship, including with the participation of female business leaders and founders.

Holding the forum, according to the diplomat, is consistent with the task set by the two heads of state — to build strategic relations on the basis of a solid economic platform, while supporting initiatives aimed at involving women in entrepreneurship and the international business community.
