Chinese technology company Rogbid has officially unveiled the M2 model, the world's first smartwatch with a case made of solid tungsten steel. The novelty stands out not only for its performance material, but also for its comprehensive functionality, covering both everyday use cases and professional sports or navigation tasks.
The device received a 1.6-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels and a brightness of up to 1500 nits. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, which increases its resistance to scratches and mechanical damage. The case, made of tungsten steel with a three-layer protective coating and side inserts, provides additional strength compared to traditional stainless alloys. The weight of the watch is 90 grams, which makes the model weighty both in the direct and in the image sense. The kit includes a 24 mm wide fluoro-rubber strap.
In terms of navigation, the Rogbid M2 supports dual-band GNSS and six global satellite systems: GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, NAVIC, QZSS and BDS. The device is equipped with advanced algorithms for autonomous route planning, which makes it suitable for use in conditions of limited network access. This solution is aimed at users who are engaged in trekking, navigation in unfamiliar terrain, or professional geolocation analytics.
The arsenal of fitness features includes more than 100 sports modes, a six-axis sensor unit, heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring sensors, sleep trackers, fatigue analysis, and even emotional state recognition. A compass, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, barometric altimeter and accelerometer are integrated, making the device versatile for tracking activity in different climatic and terrain conditions.
The watch is equipped with an 810 mAh battery that provides up to 100 days of standby time. Also available are 4 GB of internal storage for offline storage of audio files and Bluetooth 5.3 support for connecting to smartphones based on Android 5.0 and later, as well as iOS 11.0 and later. Declared water resistance-up to 3 ATM.
Rogbid M2 is aimed at users who place high demands on both the functionality of wearable devices, as well as their durability and design. The initial price of the device is 119 US dollars, the model is already available for pre-order in the Asian market. The novelty claims to be a segment of premium smart watches with an emphasis on durability, autonomy and multi-scenario use.
