In the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan, the pace of implementation of a strategically important infrastructure project — the construction of a railway connecting China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan-has significantly increased. Work is being carried out on several sites simultaneously, covering the Eshme and Tosh-Kutchu districts, as well as the villages of Changet-Sai and Kalma-Kyrchyn in the Suzak district.
According to preliminary plans, the length of the new railway corridor in Kyrgyzstan will be about 300 kilometers. Drilling operations for the construction of tunnels have already begun, as well as preparations for the construction of bridges. The implementation of the project is assessed as one of the most significant stages of regional transport integration, contributing to the strengthening of ties between Central and East Asia.
The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan highway is seen as a key component of the initiative to diversify logistics routes alternative to traditional northern destinations. It is expected that the launch of the railway line will reduce the time and cost of deliveries between China and Central Asian countries, including between Uzbekistan and the largest economic centers of East Asia.
At the same time, construction of a new international airport has begun in the Jalal-Abad region. According to the stated parameters, the air hub will cover an area of 380 hectares and will become the largest in the Ferghana Valley. The runway will be 4 kilometers long, which will allow receiving aircraft of all categories, including heavy long-haul liners.
According to the regional authorities, the new airport is scheduled to be put into operation in 2027. Its launch will strengthen transport connectivity in the region and create prerequisites for expanding passenger and cargo transportation, including in the direction of Uzbekistan and China.
Railway and air communication projects implemented in Kyrgyzstan are important for creating a common economic space in the region and strengthening international transit corridors, in which Uzbekistan plays a key role.
