Uzbekistan: the public sector is strengthening the use of open and gender-sensitive data in governance

On July 29 and 30, 2025, a seminar was held in the Tashkent region on the use of open and gender-based data in the public administration system of Uzbekistan. The event was attended by representatives of ministries, relevant departments and state-owned enterprises, which underlines the relevance of developing digital tools for making informed and inclusive decisions.

The agenda focuses on improving the efficiency of the use of statistical and analytical data in state structures. Special emphasis was placed on gender data as one of the key components of social sustainability and fair public policies. Principles for identifying information gaps, the need to map existing data sets, and strengthening coordination between different agencies were discussed.

The seminar became an important stage in the implementation of the national agenda for digitalization and strengthening the openness of public administration. The transition to data-driven management requires a systematic approach that includes not only technological solutions, but also coordination of priorities between different actors. Uzbekistan is committed to creating a culture of using data to develop public policies that meet international standards.

The event discussed institutional barriers, as well as ways to strengthen professional competencies, which in the future can significantly increase the country's position in international rankings for data openness and digital maturity.

The event was held as part of a large-scale program to support public administration reforms and is aimed at creating a solid methodological base for further development of digital analytics in the country. Uzbekistan continues to show interest in the practical application of open data as a resource for sustainable growth, transparency and cross-industry cooperation.
