China: Guangzhou marks new horizons for cooperation with Uzbekistan

A working meeting dedicated to strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and China in the field of investment, education and cultural exchange was held in Guangzhou, China. The talks were held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of Jin Fu, Head of the Department of International Relations at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

During the dialogue, the parties paid special attention to the socio-economic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and their significance for attracting foreign investment. Representatives of Chinese academic circles expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Uzbek universities, in particular, in the field of scientific research, student exchanges and the organization of joint educational programs.

The Chinese side noted the steady positive dynamics in the development of bilateral relations and expressed readiness to launch specific projects in the field of science and education. Special emphasis was placed on the potential of cultural dialogue and mutual tourism initiatives that contribute to strengthening humanitarian ties between the two countries.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the visit of the delegation of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology headed by the President to the Republic of Uzbekistan in September this year. Within the framework of the visit, negotiations with the leadership of a number of higher educational institutions of the country, round tables and discussion of joint projects are planned. It is expected that the event will serve as a basis for a long-term partnership in the field of education and research.
