USA: Microsoft admits Windows 11 stability issues after 2025 updates

Microsoft has officially confirmed the presence of technical failures in the Windows 11 operating system version 24H2, caused by a series of mandatory cumulative updates released in May and June 2025. Users have experienced massive problems with the stability of their devices, including errors when installing updates, performance degradation, and software failures.

Among the fixed problems are error codes 0x800f0922, 0x80070002, 0x80070306 and 0x800f0991, which occurred when trying to install updates. Some users reported spontaneous computer reboots during games, taskbar freezes after the system wakes up from sleep, and false alarms in the Windows event log related to the firewall component (event 2042: Config Read Failed). Additionally, there are delays in the operation of the interface when switching windows using Alt+Tab, especially during resource-intensive gaming sessions.

The most pronounced drop in performance was observed in popular video games, including Fortnite and CS:GO, where significant frame rate drops were recorded. Some users also complained about the general slowdown of computers after the June update. The complexity of the error made diagnostics more difficult, since the manifestations were sporadic and depended on the configuration of a particular device.

A few weeks later, Microsoft released a patch code KB5062660, released on July 22 as an optional update. The official documentation indicates that the problem was identified in security-related mechanisms, and in some cases caused instability in the operating system. According to the company, the update addresses the effects caused by previously installed packages for May and June.

The development of Windows 11 version 24H2 was initially positioned as the most stable and performance-optimized release in recent years, with an emphasis on improving work with hybrid processors, machine learning systems and gaming technologies. However, a series of technical glitches have exposed vulnerabilities even in enterprise builds, raising concerns in the professional environment.

Microsoft continues to monitor the situation and recommends that users who encounter these failures install the KB5062660 update, as well as follow further publications in the company's official channels. In the long run, we expect the integration of new diagnostic tools that can pre-identify such conflicts at the level of drivers and system libraries.
