Uzbekistan: digital professions are becoming a driver for a new generation of specialists

The global economy is undergoing a systemic transformation, with rapid technological development and changing employment patterns at its core. In Uzbekistan, as in most countries, the digitalization of production, services, and communications is driving demand for new professions that combine technological skills with creative and analytical thinking.

Digital professions are no longer just a means of earning money. They become a tool for self-realization, social impact, and adaptation to global challenges. The development of artificial intelligence, automation, mobile technologies and the Internet has opened up a new space for employment — flexible, fast-paced and results-oriented.

The modern labor market is increasingly moving away from the traditional office format. Flexibility, freelancing, and multitasking are becoming the norm. Training in digital professions is possible in a relatively short period of time-from 6 to 12 months. Such areas as SMM, targeting, mobilography and IT are forming a new professional culture.

SMM managers are now perceived as digital communications engineers. They create brand promotion strategies, manage the reputation of organizations in social networks, and provide direct dialogue with the audience. Thanks to these specialists, government agencies, businesses and social projects receive an effective communication tool.

Targetologists are specialists who work with digital advertising and specifically target content to the target audience. According to analytical data, brands that use targeted advertising on social networks show sales growth of 27 percent. Targetologists act as "invisible sellers" who influence user behavior and consumer decisions.

Mobilography has become an important component of the visual economy. Creating photo and video content using smartphones is in demand in advertising, entertainment, education, tourism, and even healthcare. Mobilographers don't just shoot — they shape the visual culture, set trends, and become the voice of the digital age.

IT professionals-from programmers to data analysts-play a key role in the digital transformation of the economy. Without their participation, it is impossible to build any high-tech sector, be it e-government, fintech or cybersecurity.

Support for digital professions is becoming part of government policy. In 2024-2025, the project "SMM Girls of the capital" was implemented in Uzbekistan with the participation of the SMM School, the Agency for Youth Affairs and the Tashkent Khokimiyat. Within the framework of the initiative, 1000 girls were trained in the areas of SMM and mobilography on a grant basis. The project was a significant step towards involving women in the digital economy and creating an inclusive professional environment.

National competitions and awards have become an additional incentive for young professionals. In particular, in the structure of the Zulfiya State Prize, an information technology category has been introduced, designed to support girls who have achieved success in the field of IT.

In Uzbekistan, digital professions are becoming not only a part of the economy, but also a tool for influencing social processes, cultural attitudes and educational guidelines. Modern majors are shaping a new generation of leaders who can adapt to change, initiate innovation, and shape the future.
