Taiwanese manufacturer of industrial computing solutions Aaeon announced the release of a new miniature computer PICO-MTU4-SEMI based on the latest Intel Core Ultra processors. The device is positioned as the smallest industrial PC in the world, running on this architecture, and is focused on embedded solutions in the field of industrial automation, robotics and intelligent transport.
The computer is made in a fanless case with dimensions of 108 × 95 × 43 mm and a weight of only 0.6 kilograms. Despite its extremely compact size, it is equipped with a functional set of ports and supports high-performance data processing scenarios. The Mini PC is designed specifically for use in automated mobile platforms (AGVs) and industrial control systems where reliability, energy efficiency and compactness are important.
Depending on the configuration, the device is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 5 125U or Intel Core Ultra 7 165U processor with a basic thermal package of 15 watts. It uses LPDDR5 memory up to 32 GB, soldered on the board. For data storage, an M. 2 2280 slot is provided, compatible with both PCIe Gen 4 and SATA interfaces, which makes the device flexible in the choice of drives. An additional M. 2 2230 E-Key slot allows you to install wireless communication modules, including Wi-Fi.
From the point of view of communications, the computer is equipped with two network ports-2.5 GbE and 1GbE, as well as two USB 3.2 Type-A, HDMI 1.4, a power port and a number of DB9 interfaces. The latter provide support for serial communication over RS-232/422/485 protocols, which is critical for integration with industrial sensors, controllers, and equipment. One of the ports is also used to extend the I / O capabilities of the GPIO protocol.
The Mini PC is certified to run Windows 10, Windows 11, and Ubuntu Linux 22.04.2 operating systems, which provides compatibility with a wide range of software for industrial process management, data analysis, and communication with peripheral systems.
Official data on the cost of the device and its availability in international markets have not yet been released. However, given the strong growth in demand for compact solutions in the industrial automation segment and the development of the Intel Core Ultra ecosystem, the release of this device can significantly affect the offers in the field of embedded computing platforms.
Aaeon continues to strengthen its position in the market by offering solutions adapted to the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution, where efficiency, compactness and sustainability are at the forefront.
