Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov held a working meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea Won Do Yong. The talks were devoted to the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of digital technologies, as well as strengthening strategic partnership in the field of digitalization.
One of the key issues of the meeting was discussing the current status and prospects of the Korean-Uzbek Digital Center project. The Ambassador highly appreciated the results achieved, noting the effectiveness of the initiatives implemented within the framework of the center. In turn, the Minister stressed that the center's activities directly contribute to the promotion of Uzbekistan in international ratings in the field of e-government and digital services.
A positive assessment was also given to the Civil Service Forum held in Samarkand, which has become one of the most significant platforms for exchanging experience in the field of digitalization of public administration. The Ambassador noted the positive dynamics of Uzbekistan in the global indicators of the development of the digital state, which is confirmed by the annual growth of indicators.
Among the priority topics of discussion are Uzbekistan's plans to enter the Top 30 countries in the world in terms of digitalization by 2030. Sherzod Shermatov stressed the importance of maintaining and deepening partnership relations with the Republic of Korea as one of the leaders in the field of technology and digital transformation. They stressed the need to further attract leading Korean IT companies to Uzbekistan, as well as the Embassy's assistance in this direction.
Special attention was paid to the development of the educational direction, in particular, the future activities of INHA University. The need to improve the quality of specialist training, strengthen the applied component of training and strengthen academic cooperation between universities of the two countries was discussed.
The meeting confirmed the high level of trust and common strategic goals in the field of digital development between Uzbekistan and South Korea. In the context of a global technological transition, such partnerships are becoming key elements for the sustainable growth of the country's digital economy.
