The American company SpaceX is considering the possibility of using the Starship rocket system not only for space missions, but also as a means of ultra-fast transport on Earth. According to Elon Musk, the reusable Starship rocket, equipped with a Super Heavy accelerator and Raptor engines, is capable of flying between any point on the planet at a speed of up to Mach 25. The estimated travel time will be about 30 minutes.
We are talking about a potential technological transformation in the field of international transportation. If the project is implemented, flights between continents will take not hours, but minutes, which can dramatically change logistics, the economy of business travel and global interaction in general. However, the implementation of the concept will require regulatory approval, including the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), as well as addressing a number of issues related to noise, safety and environmental load.
According to available data, the project is still under development. SpaceX continues to conduct a series of test launches. Preparations for the tenth Starship flight are already underway, scheduled for August 2025. The Ship 37 vehicle, intended for the next test, is currently being assembled at the company's production site. Engineering work is underway at Mega Bay 2 — one of the key assembly hangars.
Starship is a fully reusable transportation system designed to deliver cargo and people to both orbit and deep space. This is not the first time Musk has announced the possibility of using the technology for ground transportation, but current statements are accompanied by specific characteristics: speeds of up to Mach 25 (more than 30,000 km / h) and the target flight duration of about 30 minutes.
The question of the feasibility and safety of such launches remains the subject of discussion in the expert community. The widespread use of suborbital transport will require not only technological improvements, but also a revision of the aerospace communication infrastructure, air traffic control systems and international agreements on the control of movement at near-Earth altitudes.
The Starship project as a means of intercontinental flights, if approved by regulators, can open a new era in the transport industry and in the future compete with civil aviation on ultra-long routes.
