Uzbekistan strengthens digital infrastructure through Datavolt projects and implementation of green energy standards

Uzbekistan continues to implement strategic projects in the field of digital infrastructure. One of the key directions in this process was the construction of a modern data processing center (DPC) in Tashkent by Datavolt, an international supplier of data centers and digital platforms. The project is under active development and is already positioned as a technologically advanced and environmentally oriented initiative.

Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held a working meeting with Datavolt CEO Rajit Nanda. The main attention was paid to the current state of the project, completed works, as well as strategic stages planned for the near future. The project aims to create a stable, highly reliable digital infrastructure that can support the development of the public and private sectors of the economy, and ensure data storage, processing and protection in accordance with international standards.

A special feature of the project is that the data center under construction will be the first large infrastructure facility in Uzbekistan that operates exclusively on renewable energy sources. Energy efficiency, carbon footprint minimization, and environmental sustainability are the fundamental characteristics of this data center. The technological solution complies with the principles of "green" construction and sustainable development, which allows us to consider the object not only as an IT asset, but also as a tool for environmental transformation of the energy and digital sectors.

One of the significant items on the meeting's agenda was the initiative to introduce the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) certification system in Uzbekistan. This will ensure transparency and accountability in the use of renewable energy sources, increase confidence on the part of international partners, and strengthen the country's position at the global level as a participant in sustainable energy policy.

They also discussed joint projects in the field of improving the energy efficiency of corporate IT infrastructures, using solar and other alternative energy sources, and creating digital solutions with reduced energy consumption. Such initiatives are particularly valuable in the context of the growing burden on the energy system, the growing need for digital services, and the need to comply with international climate commitments.

During the talks, the parties confirmed their readiness to deepen the partnership. It was agreed to further expand cooperation, enter new technological areas and ensure the full implementation of the data center project at all stages.

The development of the national digital infrastructure in Uzbekistan in conjunction with global sustainability practices demonstrates the republic's desire to integrate into the global technological space not only as a consumer, but also as a manufacturer of high-tech solutions. Implementation of approaches based on environmental responsibility and energy efficiency is becoming an integral part of the country's digital policy.
