Artel invests $ 150 million in construction of a new plant in Zaamin Technopark

Large-scale industrialization of the regions continues in Uzbekistan, supported by the active participation of national and foreign capital. The largest domestic manufacturing company Artel has started construction of a new plant for the production of electrical appliances on the territory of the technopark in Zaamin district of Jizzakh region. The project is implemented within the framework of the Navoi Industrial Park branch and provides for investments in the amount of $ 150 million.

The production facility will be located on a plot of 80 hectares and will become one of the flagship enterprises in the Zaamin industrial cluster. It is planned to annually produce up to one million units of household appliances over a hundred items-from refrigerators and washing machines to televisions and kitchen electronics. The level of localization of product components should reach 70 percent, which will reduce dependence on imports, strengthen cooperation ties within the country and create additional employment in the region.

The plant's products will be aimed not only at the domestic market, but also for export. According to preliminary calculations, the total cost of the manufactured equipment will amount to $ 320 million per year, of which $ 140 million will be exported to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and other countries. The plant will create a logistics center and a specialized section for the production of molds, which will increase production autonomy and reduce the time to bring products to market.

The implementation of this project is taking place against the background of a general intensification of investment policy in the Jizzakh region. Only in 2024, the volume of attracted foreign investment in the region exceeded one billion dollars — this is more than 50 times higher than in 2018, when only 18 million were received in the region. In total, over the past eight years, investments have reached $ 3.7 billion. These investments ensured the launch of four thousand industrial enterprises and contributed to a significant increase in the region's economic activity.

In parallel with the development of flagship projects, a number of other initiatives are being implemented on the territory of Zaamin Technopark. The first stage provides for nine investment projects with a total budget of $ 350 million. These include the production of metal structures, polymer drainage pipes and concrete products. In the future, it is planned to produce high-tech products, including medical equipment and components for the IT industry.

In the second phase, five more projects are being prepared for implementation with a total investment of about $ 250 million. Among them is a plant for the production of X-ray generators for medical equipment and inspection systems. The enterprise, initiated by the Chinese company Longze Investment Group, will supply products for export in the amount of at least five million dollars annually. It also plans to produce laptops, servers and telecommunications equipment in partnership with the Chinese brand Foxit.

The industrial hub being formed in Jizzakh region is becoming not only a new production center, but also a strategic platform for exporting Uzbek products to foreign markets. Zaamin Technopark strengthens Uzbekistan's position in the transformation of the national economy towards high value added, diversified exports and technological independence.
