Uzbekistan and Russia continue to develop a strategic partnership in a key sector of the economy-the gas chemical industry. The next stage of the joint international internship program was completed in July 2025, confirming the high level of technological and personnel cooperation between the two countries.
The memorandum of understanding signed in 2024 between the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex and the Russian engineering company became the basis for enhancing cooperation. This document outlined priorities in the training of production personnel, adaptation of advanced solutions in the field of production cycle management and introduction of modern training methods.
An international internship program at the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex has become a key element of cooperation. Experts from Uzbekistan and Russia took part in it. The Uzbek side shared practical skills in operating technologically complex installations, while the Russian participants presented modern standards for personnel training and methods for digital transformation of the production environment.
Special attention was paid to training specialists for the Irkutsk Polymer Plant, the construction of which is entering its final stage. Technical consultants from Uzbekistan — Araljon Sochibov and Ulugbek Zhuraev, employees of the Shurtan Chemical Complex, were invited to the key stages of commissioning. Their participation was an example of direct integration of the experience of the Uzbek engineering school into the implementation of Russian industrial projects.
A working meeting between representatives of Uzbekneftegaz JSC, the Shurtan complex and the management of the Irkutsk enterprise was held as part of an official business mission. During the negotiations, specific areas of joint work were agreed, including optimization of production processes, introduction of new solutions in infrastructure management and training of personnel to meet the requirements of future production facilities.
According to Khusan Rakhimov, Head of the Technical Department and Deputy Director of the Deep Gas Processing Department of Uzbekneftegaz JSC, the exchange of technological practices and organizational models is the basis for sustainable growth. He noted that such cooperation contributes to the formation of a single expert space within the Eurasian region, where Uzbekistan plays an increasingly prominent role as a supplier of qualified personnel and technologies.
Dastan Kokeyev, General Director of the Russian partner company, emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach: modernization of production facilities requires not only the introduction of equipment, but also the revision of organizational models, increasing staff motivation and building an effective knowledge system.
The program of cooperation in the field of gas chemistry between Uzbekistan and Russia is being developed within the framework of the provisions of the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of economy and industry. Despite the relatively short implementation period, the results achieved demonstrate a high potential for cross-border partnership. It covers not only the exchange of technologies, but also the formation of a common area of competence, which in the long term can become the key to sustainable modernization of the gas chemical sector in both countries.
