In the segment of crossovers and SUVs with alternative powerplants, competition is expected to increase — Chery has officially introduced the new Fengyun X3L model, which combines the characteristics of urban cross-country driving and high-tech hybrid drive. The presentation took place on July 21, 2025, and serial production and the start of sales have not yet been announced. However, the technical characteristics and visual concept indicate the brand's ambition to go beyond traditional positioning.
The Fengyun X3L is built on a platform with an extended wheelbase of 2783 mm and a total length of 4503 to 4545 mm, depending on the modification. The width is 1950 mm, the height is up to 1815 mm. These parameters put the novelty in the niche of compact, but visually solid crossovers, ready to move both on city streets and off-road.
The engineering feature of the model is a hybrid powertrain. It is based on a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with a power of 115 kW, paired with an electric motor that generates a total return of up to 315 kW and a torque of 505 N * m· Depending on the configuration, the car can be equipped with batteries with a capacity of 20,638 or 33,679 kilowatt-hours, which provides an electric power reserve of 90 to 150 kilometers. This makes the model relevant both for everyday routes within the city limits, and for long-distance trips with rare stops for recharging.
Special attention should be paid to the off-road geometry. The entrance angle is 22 degrees, the exit angle is 30 degrees, and the ground clearance reaches 225 mm. This is one of the highest ratings in the class, especially among hybrid models, where the battery layout often limits the clearance. This configuration opens up potential opportunities for operating the car in rough terrain, which may also be relevant for consumers of Uzbekistan with a diverse landscape.
The Fengyun X3L is designed in the spirit of chopped geometry with an emphasis on visual power. L-shaped optics, a massive radiator grille, a bumper with matte black accents, extended arches and a roof rack form the image of a modern and functional SUV. The rear of the case is equipped with an external compartment for storing wet items-parts that the manufacturer positions as a solution for an active lifestyle.
The interior is dominated by a 15.6-inch multimedia screen based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset, as well as a digital dashboard. The interior design includes a T-shaped console and vertical deflectors, focused on ergonomics and visual rigor. This approach is typical for new models of the Chinese car industry, which strive to meet international standards of manufacturability.
Although the price of the car has not yet been announced, taking into account the characteristics, we can expect a price range above the market average, especially in the hybrid configuration with maximum battery capacity. However, the availability of state support for the purchase of eco-friendly vehicles in a number of countries, including Uzbekistan, can play a role in creating an attractive offer for the end user.
The Fengyun X3L represents a new phase in the evolution of the Chinese automotive industry, where the focus is not only on electrification, but also on versatility. Chery aims to reach new markets, including Central Asia, by offering transportation solutions tailored to local conditions - from climate to road conditions. In the context of the accelerating transformation of transport and the growing demand for hybrid models, the appearance of the Fengyun X3L may become one of the benchmarks for the near future of the industry.
