Uzbekistan launches HUMO token backed by government bonds

The national payment system of Uzbekistan HUMO has announced the launch of a pilot project to issue a digital token backed by government bonds of the country. The new asset is registered in the Unified Register of Digital Assets under the National Agency for Advanced Projects and issued by a subsidiary of HUMO Digital. Security and security of the asset are under the control of the Asterium cryptodepository.

HUMO positions the token as an instrument with a high degree of reliability, resistant to market volatility due to the support of government debt securities. It is designed to simplify cross-border settlements, increase transparency of operations and expand international investment cooperation, especially in the CIS.

According to Maksad Mukhitdinov, Acting Chairman of the Board of the National Interbank Processing Center, the token issue was a logical continuation of the digital transformation of the country's payment system. The decision to launch the token was made in the context of rapid digitalization of the economy and the growing need for modern payment tools that meet high security and transparency requirements.

The HUMO infrastructure covers more than 35 million cards and is integrated into the banking and trading ecosystem of Uzbekistan, including interaction with international payment systems — Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay. This creates conditions for large-scale implementation of the digital asset among both businesses and individuals.

At the first stage, the token will be tested in operations involving businesses and private users. It is planned to work out settlement scenarios, integration with current payment systems, and prepare for listing on digital trading platforms. Long-term goals include the use of the token in international trade, logistics, e-commerce and other areas where fast and secure payments are needed.

Komilkhuzha Sultonov, Director of the Asterium crypto repository, stressed that the project serves not only as a technological innovation, but also as a step towards building a stable and trusting financial environment in the country. He noted that the HUMO token can become a model of a reliable digital asset that meets the requirements of financial and regulatory sovereignty.

Against the backdrop of growing instability in international financial flows, the launch of the HUMO token reflects Uzbekistan's desire to build its own settlement tools and strengthen its role in the global financial architecture through digital innovations and secure payment solutions.
