American manufacturer of electric vehicles Rivian has announced a new modification of the second generation of its flagship line R1 - with four electric motors and a focus on off-road performance. The new version, in fact, is a high-performance solution for enthusiasts who value dynamics, autonomy and off-road capabilities. The R1T starts at $115,990, and the R1S off-road crossover starts at $121,990.
The new generation R1 features a maximum output of 1,025 horsepower and a torque of 1,624 newton meters. This configuration provides impressive acceleration: the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, and covers a quarter of a mile in 10.5 seconds. This puts the model among the most dynamic electric vehicles on the market, including both urban and off-road segments.
The claimed power reserve is 602 kilometers, and in energy-saving mode it can reach 645 kilometers. The new version is equipped with a NACS charging port, which makes it compatible with the Tesla Supercharger network. A CCS DC adapter is also provided for charging at third-party stations.
Key off-road features include: Kick Turn, which allows the car to make sharp turns on loose and gravel surfaces due to point-based control of torque along the axles. This feature will be available in September via a software update.
For additional personalization of the off-road experience, a system has been implemented RAD Tuner, which allows you to adjust the characteristics of the suspension, drive, and accelerator pedal response. The interface is based on algorithms developed based on the engineering experience of Rivian's participation in races Rebelle Rally 2023 and Pikes Peak Hill Climb 2024which highlights the company's commitment to integrating sports solutions into mass production.
The premium electric SUV segment continues to evolve, and the new R1 version from Rivian represents one of the most technologically advanced and powerful models aimed at an audience for which speed, control and off — road capabilities are key parameters when choosing a car.
