China: New Volkswagen Sagitar L surpassed Passat B7 in length and received three displays in the cabin

The official debut of the new Volkswagen Sagitar L model took place at the production site of the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. The car became the 4.3-millionth copy that rolled off the assembly line of the Chengdu plant. The premiere coincided with this production milestone and marked the launch of a fundamentally new generation of models based on the Volkswagen Jetta platform.

The new Sagitar L is significantly different from its predecessors. Unlike the three previous generations, designed in the classic "Volkswagen" style, the novelty shows a design that echoes the brand's modern electric vehicles. The exterior features sliding door handles, LED strips on the front and rear of the body, and a backlit brand logo.

Overall dimensions of the model are impressive: the body length is 4812 mm, which exceeds the performance of the seventh-generation Volkswagen Passat. The 2,731 mm wheelbase is inferior to the Passat, but remains one of the longest in the class.

The main feature of the interior was the integration of three screens. The central touchscreen display has a diagonal of 15 inches and a resolution of 2K, the digital dashboard is represented by a 10.25-inch screen, and a W-HUD projection display is also provided. The car is equipped with 30-color atmospheric illumination, an expanded set of driver assistants, adaptive cruise control, all-round visibility, panoramic sunroof and modern climate control.

The powertrain of the Volkswagen Sagitar L includes a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 160 horsepower. It is paired with a 7-speed robotic gearbox with two dry clutches. This tandem is focused on a combination of dynamics and efficiency.

The new Sagitar L demonstrates the brand's growing focus on the Chinese market, where demand for longer versions of sedans with premium options and digital solutions is growing.
