Europe to become Super Micro's key manufacturing hub amid growing demand for AI Servers

American technology company Super Micro has announced plans for a large-scale expansion of its production facilities in Europe. CEO Charles Liang announced the decision to increase investment in the region, including the construction of new facilities for the assembly of servers for artificial intelligence systems.

Super Micro makes server hardware that is equipped with Nvidia GPUs and is used for training and implementing large-scale AI models. The company already has a production site in the Netherlands, but given the rapid growth in demand, it is considering the possibility of creating additional centers in other European countries.

According to Liang, the global demand for computing power for AI will continue to grow over the coming years. This creates conditions for expansion both geographically and technologically. He noted that "demand is becoming global, and Europe is one of the priority regions for increasing our presence."

Previously, the company received a serious growth boost after the rapid development of generative AI — in particular, after the launch of ChatGPT, which provoked a rush of demand for Nvidia chips. In March 2024, Super Micro shares reached an all-time high. However, the quotes subsequently declined by almost 60% amid investors ' concerns about transparency of reporting. In February of this year, the company provided a delayed financial report for fiscal year 2024, which partially restored confidence on the part of the stock market.

Despite more subdued expectations for the second quarter, Liang stressed that the company's growth momentum remains stable. Super Micro continues to invest in developing its own technology base and expanding its product portfolio. The CEO expressed confidence that " the opportunities for growth remain significant in both the technical and market dimensions."

An additional catalyst for European expansion was the active promotion of AI infrastructure at the level of national governments. Companies engaged in the development and maintenance of server solutions are becoming strategic partners for states interested in creating independent digital ecosystems. Against this background, the presence of Super Micro in Europe can play a key role in shaping the region's technological sovereignty.
