Starting August 1, 2025, the United States of America will introduce new increased tariffs on imports of goods from several countries. The corresponding statement was made by former US President Donald Trump, announcing the beginning of the next stage of protectionist trade policy against states that, according to him, "unfairly use the American market."
The tariff rates will be set at a level of 25% to 36% and will affect the entire volume of imports, including products from key industries. According to Trump, such measures are aimed at" restoring the balance in international trade " and protecting American manufacturers.
List of countries and new terms of trade with them:
- Tunis-Starting August 1, all Tunisian goods shipped to the United States will be subject to a 25% tariff.
- Indonesia-a 32% tariff will apply to all exports to the United States.
- Bangladesh-the 35% rate will apply to products from all sectors. In case of attempts to circumvent these measures through third countries, the forwarded goods will be subject to additional tariffs.
- Serbia-from August, mutual trade with the United States will be subject to a tariff of 35%, not including sectoral restrictions.
- Cambodia — all goods coming from this country will be subject to a 36% tariff, separate from industry fees.
- Thailand-exports to the United States will be subject to a single tariff of 36%, excluding sectors.
- Bosnia and Herzegovina — all goods sent to the United States will be subject to a 30% tariff, not counting individual industry items.
Experts assess these measures as a step towards further strengthening the protectionist course that Donald Trump pursued during his previous presidential term. The introduction of new tariffs may affect global logistics chains, the cost of raw materials and finished products, as well as increase tensions in international trade, especially in the run-up to the US election.
The new duties will come into force automatically and will become mandatory for all trading operators working with these countries.
