Uzbekistan and the Novosibirsk Region are stepping up cooperation in trade, logistics and industrial cooperation. One of the key directions was the creation of a joint online platform for selling products of Uzbek and Novosibirsk manufacturers. The initiative was announced at the Investment Days in Siberia and received support from representatives of both parties.
According to Timur Surenin, adviser to the Khokim of the Ferghana region, the regions of Uzbekistan and Belarus (in particular, the Ferghana and Minsk regions) are preparing to launch the "electronic shopping city"project. The platform will be designed for wholesale and retail sales of locally produced goods. As part of a similar approach, Novosibirsk entrepreneurs are invited to consider creating a mirror platform adapted to Russian realities and needs.
In parallel, the opening of showrooms with products from the Novosibirsk region in Uzbekistan and, conversely, exhibition sites of Uzbek goods in Novosibirsk is being discussed. Consul General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk Aslam Akbarov expressed hope that this region will become the first point of presence of Uzbekistan in Siberia in the format of a permanent trading house.
In addition to e-commerce, much attention is paid to industrial cooperation. In particular, Uzbekistan is interested in localizing the production of Novosibirsk enterprises on its territory, especially within the free economic zones of the Ferghana and Surkhandarya regions. The focus is on companies that produce specialized products for diabetics, as well as pharmaceutical companies.
As Akbarov noted, Uzbekistan is considering opening production facilities with a focus on the domestic market, where a high level of confidence in Russian medicines remains. He stressed that the opportunities of the republic's free economic zones allow creating conditions for the rapid localization and launch of industries with high added value.
Other areas of cooperation include the production of basalt wool. Uzbekistan intends to establish this production with the support of raw materials supplies from the Novosibirsk region. We are talking, in particular, about the need for regular volumes of phenol-formaldehyde resins — about 6 thousand tons per year. Similar negotiations are also underway with other Russian companies.
A separate point of discussion was the needs of Uzbek enterprises in chemicals for the textile industry. Despite the developed textile industry, Uzbekistan is experiencing a shortage of local suppliers of chemicals for painting and processing fabrics. Novosibirsk companies in this area are considered as potential partners.
On the other hand, the interest of Uzbek business in Siberia also covers the agricultural sector. The possibility of participation of Uzbek companies in the creation of greenhouses in the Novosibirsk region is being considered. We are talking about projects for growing vegetables and fruits with the involvement of specialists and workers from Uzbekistan with many years of experience in this field.
Logistics infrastructure was also discussed during the meetings. Representatives of the Uzbek side expressed interest in using the warehouse facilities of Novosibirsk, including in the new wholesale complex "Asia Siberia", where production facilities for processing agricultural products are provided.
They also discussed the prospect of placing the production of home appliances of the Uzbek brand Artel in the region. According to the participants of the meeting, the Novo-Nikolaevsky technopark in Novosibirsk provides all the necessary conditions for localization of such a project.
The meeting resulted in a proposal to prepare a list of specific joint initiatives by the fall of 2025, with the aim of signing agreements between the regions. The Consulate of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk expressed its readiness to provide practical assistance to businesses in finding partners, registering market entries and supporting investment processes.
