Tablets with M-series chips beat the iPhone 16 Pro Max in the performance rating

The June performance rating of Apple devices based on iOS and iPadOS, compiled on the basis of data from the AnTuTu benchmark, demonstrated a tangible advantage of tablets with M-series processors compared to the company's flagship smartphones.

The leader of the rating was the 11-inch iPad Pro with an M4 chip, which scored an average of 2.48 million points. With an identical result, the 13-inch iPad Pro, also based on the M4, came in second place. The third position was taken by the iPad Air with a 13-inch display and an M3 processor — 2 million points.

The top ten also includes devices with M2 and M1 chips:

Against the background of these results, the top Apple smartphones were out of the top ten. The iPhone 16 Pro Max ranked only 11th with 1.65 million points, while the iPhone 16 Pro ranked 12th with 1.63 million points.

The lag is due to the architectural difference between mobile A-series chips and the more powerful M-series processors designed for high-performance tasks and used in the iPad and Mac. Despite its flagship status, the iPhone 16 Pro Max with the A18 Pro chip couldn't beat even devices with the M1.

The rating reflects data collected based on the results of testing devices in June 2025.
