Uzbekistan has transferred more than 290 hectares of border land to Kyrgyzstan as part of the border demarcation agreement

As part of the implementation of the interstate agreement on the delimitation and demarcation of certain sections of the state border, Uzbekistan transferred to Kyrgyzstan two significant land plots located along the common border in the Osh region. The decision was made in accordance with the bilateral agreement signed on November 3, 2022 in Bishkek.

The first 100-hectare plot is located in the Kara — Sui district, between border points 312/4 and 312/6. The second, larger, 198.44 — hectare plot is located in the Aravan district, between points 324 and 328. Both sites are officially transferred to the state ownership of Kyrgyzstan and will be put on cadastral registration in the near future.

The transfer process is regulated by a decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, which provides for the gratuitous transfer of land to local self — government bodies-aiyl districts of Kara-Suu and Kerme-Too. Responsibility for the intended use of land plots is assigned to district administrations, which are obliged to ensure their effective and legitimate use in the interests of the local population.

Financing of work on inventory, registration of ownership rights and making changes to cartographic materials will be carried out at the expense of local budgets. It is expected that within a month the State Agency for Land Resources, Cadastre, Geodesy and Cartography will complete the process of state registration of the transferred territories.

In addition, an updated map of the administrative-territorial structure will be prepared within the framework of the agreement, reflecting the adjusted borders after the official demarcation is completed. Control over the implementation of all stages — from inventory to making changes to official documents-is carried out by the Administration of the Head of State, which is responsible for monitoring the implementation of decisions of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers.

The resolution comes into legal force seven days after its publication. The transfer of land plots was another step in strengthening good-neighborly relations and resolving border issues between the two countries.
