Uzbekistan and Primorsky Krai strengthen interregional cooperation
On June 30, 2025, official negotiations between the Uzbek delegation and the regional leadership were held in Primorsky Krai. The main topic of the meeting was interregional cooperation, legal protection of migrant workers, development of educational initiatives and coordination in the field of foreign economic activity.
The delegation from Uzbekistan held talks with the Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako, as well as with a number of key ministers of the regional government. Representatives of the departments responsible for international cooperation, construction, agriculture, tourism, education, labor relations, industry and trade, as well as migration policy took part in the dialogue. In addition, a working meeting was held with the Head of the Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vladivostok.
Mechanisms for expanding cooperation in the economic, educational and social spheres were at the center of the agenda. The parties paid special attention to the issues of pre-departure training of labor migrants and the need to create conditions for their safe and legal employment. The possibility of opening Russian training centers in Uzbekistan, which will provide citizens with competencies that are in demand in the labor market of Primorsky Krai, was considered.
Prospects for joint advertising and image-building activities aimed at increasing the investment and tourist attractiveness of both regions were discussed. The focus is on developing business contacts, localizing production facilities, expanding logistics corridors and educational exchanges. Participants emphasized that interregional ties are becoming a stable tool for bringing States closer together in the face of growing global competition.
A separate block of negotiations was devoted to the protection of the rights of Uzbek citizens located in the territory of Primorsky Krai. Representatives of the Migration Policy Agency and relevant ministries expressed their readiness to jointly work out measures to improve legal and living conditions for migrant workers, including health insurance, integration into the socio-cultural environment and access to education for their children.
In the afternoon, the Uzbek delegation met with compatriots working in the region. The event was attended by the Governor of the region Oleg Kozhemyako. In an informal setting, topical issues related to the life and work of migrants were discussed, and legal and social issues were clarified. Such communication formats are becoming an important tool for maintaining communication between state structures and the diaspora.
Following the visit, the parties confirmed their commitment to the regular exchange of delegations, institutional strengthening of bilateral communication channels and coordination in key areas of cooperation.
