Updated Suzuki Alto
Suzuki has unveiled a restyled version of the ninth-generation Alto subcompact car. The model, which is included in the category of key cars, received minor, but purposeful updates in the external design, equipment and technical part. Sales in the Japanese domestic market will start on July 22, and the base price will be 1.1429 million yen — about $8,000 at the current exchange rate.
The dimensions of the car remained within the regulated standards for the K-class: length-3395 mm, width-1475 mm, height-1525 mm, wheelbase — 2460 mm. Its compact size ensures high maneuverability in dense urban environments, while maintaining functionality and practicality for everyday use.
The exterior of the model received an updated grille and an upgraded rear spoiler on individual versions. There are 12 color options-8 solid and 4 two-tone. A new terracotta metallic has been added to the palette, and two-tone versions can now be completed with a roof not only in beige, but also in black.
The interior remains visually close to the previous version, retaining a minimalistic and functional approach. The transmission arm is integrated into the center console, and above it is a 7-inch media system display. In the basic version, there is no multi-steering wheel and touch interface, which emphasizes the budget nature of the model.
From the point of view of security, the updated Alto received an expanded set of basic electronic systems. Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with recognition of cars, pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycles, front parking sensors and a lane departure warning system.
The powertrain range remains the same: the basic three-cylinder naturally aspirated 0.66-liter engine develops 46 horsepower and 55 Nm of torque. The hybrid version with the same internal combustion engine capacity shows a total power of 49 hp and 58 Nm, additionally supported by an electric motor of 3 hp and 40 Nm. Both options are paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). An optional all-wheel drive system is available for both configurations.
The updated Suzuki Alto remains one of the most affordable options among all-wheel-drive key cars. It combines basic functionality, an advanced set of security systems and an economical powertrain focused on daily city trips. The model is aimed at the domestic market of Japan, but given its affordability and technical versatility, it may also attract interest in export markets.
