Uzbekistan strengthens cooperation with international partners in the field of spatial data digitalization

The Ministry of Economy and Finance hosted a meeting on digital transformation and development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) in Uzbekistan. The talks were attended by First Deputy Minister Ilkhom Norkulov, representative of the European Union Yana Kurpiza and World Bank Senior Urban Development Specialist Muhammad Nad, as well as representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the country.

The key topic of discussion was the expansion of partnership in the framework of the spatial information digitalization project. Special attention is paid to the current status of NSDI implementation, as well as the prospects for integrating the platform into the state system of planning, statistics and territorial data management.

The national spatial data infrastructure is formed as a single digital ecosystem, covering legal, technological and organizational components aimed at centralized storage, processing and use of geographical information. Such platforms become the basis for making informed decisions in such critical sectors as urban planning, environmental management, logistics, energy and ecology.

The meeting participants considered the possibilities of using NSDI in territorial development, including for more accurate assessment of the socio-economic potential of regions, forecasting infrastructure loads and optimizing land use schemes. They also discussed ways to integrate geographic information technologies into strategic and operational planning processes.

Special attention was paid to the need for institutional interaction between national statistical authorities, cadastral services, ministries and agencies, as well as the importance of international expertise and adaptation of global spatial data management practices.

NSDI development is considered as a tool for implementing the national strategy "Uzbekistan-2030", especially in terms of sustainable and balanced regional growth. The geographic information platform will increase the efficiency of public administration and ensure transparency in the field of territorial development.

Following the talks, the participants confirmed their readiness to deepen technical and expert cooperation, and also agreed to expand the format of cooperation at the next stages of the project.
