Within the framework of the UN Public Service Forum, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with Director of the UNESCO Institute of Statistics Roshan Bajracharya. The dialogue focused on the prospects for cooperation in the field of digital transformation, statistics and information and communication technologies.
Special attention was paid to the digitalization of public services and improving the quality and transparency of data. Strategic steps to create modern databases, introduce new digital standards, and create an information security architecture in a rapidly changing technological landscape were discussed.
The Minister presented the results of work in recent years, noting a significant improvement in the collection and dissemination of statistical information since 2017. Efforts aimed at developing the IT infrastructure were outlined, as well as initiatives to create an ecosystem for implementing solutions based on artificial intelligence. The role of digital data in healthcare, education and other key sectors is highlighted.
The parties also emphasized the need for joint steps to increase confidence in statistical data and expand access to them, especially in the field of education and research. The role of institutional partnerships in ensuring sustainable access to internationally comparable data was discussed.
Following the talks, an agreement was reached to launch joint projects aimed at exchanging experience, developing analytical tools and further strengthening cooperation in the digital sphere.
The UNESCO Institute of Statistics serves as an international platform for the development and coordination of global indicators in the field of education, science, culture and communication. Interaction with national statistical authorities allows us to develop standardized approaches and deepen the analytical measurement of global and regional processes.
