China accelerates digital infrastructure: transition to 10G networks becomes massive

Chinese telecom operators are scaling up the introduction of next-generation ultra-fast fiber networks, moving from gigabit connections to 10G technologies. According to industry representatives, tariff plans with data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s have already been launched in 29 administrative divisions of the country. A further 60 regions offer 2 Gbit/s bandwidth packages.

10G technology (XG-PON and XGS-PON) provides data download speeds of up to 10,000 megabits per second. This is ten times faster than standard gigabit networks, and allows you to download a 4K movie or multi-GIGABYTE files in just a few seconds. For comparison, downloading a 1.2 GB file takes about one second.

Technological progress allows you to scale the network in response to the growing load arising from the development of cloud gaming services, video streaming, smart home systems and the industrial Internet of Things. In comparison, a gigabit network is similar in terms of bandwidth to a two-lane road, while 10G is an eight-lane highway designed for heavy traffic without speed loss.

The digital transformation of infrastructure is supported by leading telecommunications companies, as well as network equipment suppliers. One of the key suppliers is Huawei, which is actively developing a line of solutions for communication providers, providing equipment for both urban trunk lines and for connecting end users.

The introduction of 10G is seen not only as a technological breakthrough, but also as an element of the national digital development strategy. The expansion of ultra-high-bandwidth networks lays the foundation for large-scale automation in industry, medicine, logistics and education, accelerating the transition to a"smart economy".

It is expected that in the next two years, a significant part of Chinese cities will fully switch to using 10G Internet, and a large-scale infrastructure upgrade will ensure equal access to high communication speeds both in megacities and in remote regions.
