A bilateral meeting of representatives of relevant departments of Uzbekistan and Germany was held, dedicated to the development of a green economy, transition to renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency.
Urs Daniel Engels, Head of the Department of Energy Policy, Transition to Green Energy and Energy Efficiency of the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy, and Umid Abidkhadzhayev, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan participated in the talks.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Ambassador of Germany to Uzbekistan Michael Wimmer, Project Director for Central Asia, Turkey and the South Caucasus of the German Energy Efficiency Agency (DENA) Elena Metzger, Head of the Department of the Ministry of Economy and Finance Shokhzod Islamov, Director of the project office of the Center for Green Economy Projects Temur Malik Narzikulov, as well as representatives of the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies and other specialized organizations.
The key topics of the talks were:
- Development of green energy infrastructure in Uzbekistan;
- Improving energy efficiency through the introduction of modern technological solutions;
- Integration of energy-efficient systems in social infrastructure buildings, including schools, hospitals and children's institutions;
- Formation of climate-neutral cities and acceleration of decarbonization processes.
The parties exchanged expert opinions, discussed potential areas of cooperation and mechanisms for implementing joint projects. Representatives of Germany noted Uzbekistan's progressive approaches to sustainable economic growth, emphasizing its readiness to promote the development of renewable energy in the region and support the transition to a carbon-neutral model of urban development.
As a result of the meeting, it was agreed to continue regular exchange of information, expand partnership initiatives and build a sustainable dialogue in the field of green transformation.
