Uzbekistan outlines foreign policy priorities at the 51st session
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov took part in the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Istanbul. The delegation presented a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening stability, developing economic ties and deepening humanitarian cooperation in the Islamic world.
During the plenary session, specific proposals were made to expand trade and economic partnership, support innovative projects, intensify scientific and educational exchange and actively promote cultural interaction between the member countries. The high potential for launching joint programs aimed at strengthening regional sustainability and inclusive development was noted.
During the visit, Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held a series of bilateral meetings with colleagues from a number of OIC member states. The talks covered a wide range of issues, from political dialogue to practical mechanisms for cooperation in trade, energy, education, justice and security.
Key contacts include meetings with Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Afghanistan's Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaki, Mozambique's Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs Matthew Saiz. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani, as well as Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hussein.
Special attention was paid to negotiations with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar. During the meeting, the parties confirmed the high level of mutual understanding and strategic partnership. The Action Plan signed between the Governments of the two countries outlined priority areas of cooperation and will become a tool for practical implementation of joint initiatives.
Uzbekistan's participation in the session confirmed its commitment to active cooperation within the framework of the OIC and emphasized the desire to form a balanced, mutually beneficial and sustainable foreign policy towards the countries of the Islamic world.
