Uzbekistan is preparing to join the International Metric Convention

Uzbekistan is expected to join the International Metric Convention, signed in 1875 by representatives of 17 states at a diplomatic conference in Paris. Currently, 64 countries are parties to the convention, including Turkey, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, China, Korea and Japan. Another 37 States, including Uzbekistan, participate in the convention as associate members.

Accession to the document is aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the field of metrology, which plays an important role in ensuring technical compatibility and simplifying international trade procedures. It is expected to reduce existing technical barriers to export-import activities and create conditions for further increasing the country's trade and economic potential. Accession is also seen as one of the steps towards accelerating the process of Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization.

The issue of ratification of the relevant agreement was discussed at a meeting of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan faction in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. The deputies considered the draft law "On the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the International Metric Convention (Paris, May 20, 1875, with amendments and additions of October 17, 1907, October 11, 1913 and October 6, 1921)" and expressed their views on the significance of this step. It was emphasized that joining the convention will ensure international recognition of the results of measurements carried out in the country and strengthen Uzbekistan's position in global markets.

During the meeting, other draft laws were also considered, and relevant decisions were made on them.
