Toyota is preparing a new Corolla Touring: station wagon, crossover and all-wheel drive sports car in one family

Toyota is developing a new-generation Corolla that will go on sale in 2026. The family will include traditional sedan, hatchback and station wagon bodies, but the Corolla Touring will be the key element of the strategy. The station wagon will be presented in three versions at once: as a classic station wagon, crossover and sports version with all-wheel drive.

According to BestCarWeb, the main focus when creating a new Corolla is on ease of operation, efficiency and environmental performance. The basic versions will receive a new 1.5-liter inline-four engine, which will be combined with an electric motor in hybrid versions HEV (hybrid without recharging from the mains) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid).

The crossover version of the Corolla Touring will feature increased ground clearance and a protective body kit made of unpainted plastic around the perimeter of the body. This variant will be focused on competing with models like the Subaru Crosstrek, and is designed for buyers looking for a station wagon with light off-road capabilities.

The most productive option will be the sports version of the Corolla Touring. It will be powered by a 1.6-liter inline-three turbocharged G16E-GTS engine, familiar from the GR Yaris and GR Corolla models. The power of the unit will be 304 hp. The combination with the all-wheel drive system will create a station wagon with the characteristics of a " hot " sports car that can compete with the best representatives of this segment.
