Huawei announced the beta version of HarmonyOS 6 at its annual developer conference on June 20. This is the second major version of the company's operating system, which completely discontinued support for Android apps. The new platform is focused on integrating artificial intelligence, developing tools for developers, and expanding its own ecosystem.
The key innovation of HarmonyOS 6 is the Harmony Agent Framework (HMAF). This is a proprietary smart agent model designed to work in the HarmonyOS ecosystem. According to the company, HMAF combines systems understanding, planning and execution of tasks. The model was trained on a data array of 20 trillion tokens. HMAF also provides the ability to integrate third-party intelligent agents to automate actions without the need for manual interaction with applications.
One of the demonstrated features of the new system was the work of the Xiaoya voice agent. As part of the show, the agent was assigned to find podcasts on the history of Western art and clarified the request during a further dialogue with the user. The system provides convenient interaction with local services, including Weibo and other popular apps in China.
According to Huawei CEO Richard Yu, the HarmonyOS ecosystem includes more than 30,000 apps and metaservices. Over 1,200 software products have been created as part of OpenHarmony, an open source version. The company continues to increase the number of partners and expand the capabilities of its operating system for various categories of devices.
