Meta, in partnership with the Oakley brand, announced the release of new Oakley AI smart glasses, which start at $399. The device is aimed at active users and combines high-quality video recording, audio functions and integration with artificial intelligence.
The glasses allow you to shoot videos in 3K resolution, take voice calls, listen to music, and use the capabilities of the company's Meta AI. At the same time, the gadget lacks a display, which makes it easier and more convenient for everyday use. The built-in battery provides up to eight hours of battery life. The device is protected from moisture, which expands the scenarios of its use in active and outdoor conditions.
The basis for the new models was the design of Oakley HSTN glasses. The company also announced plans to release at the end of this year a modification of the Sphera with a central camera, aimed at cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts. The price of the basic version of Oakley AI starts at $399, and the limited edition with additional features will be offered for $499.
Meta has confirmed plans to expand its wearable electronics line. By the end of the year, the company is preparing to release glasses with an integrated display, and by 2027 it plans to enter the augmented reality (AR) glasses market. These steps reflect the company's strategic course to strengthen its position in the segment of wearable devices and mixed reality technologies.
